🏈 NCAAF Player Projection Trader
Remote | Part-Time | Seasonal Contract
EV Analytics is building a cutting-edge college football player projection system — the first of its kind to match the predictive precision of our NFL, NBA, and MLB models. We're looking for a sharp, football-savvy operator to help maintain and optimize this system during the 2025 season.
If you love digging into NCAAF player usage, spotting value the model might miss, and making judgment calls based on incomplete info — this role is for you.
🔧 What You’ll Do
🧠 Projection Oversight & Adjustment
- Monitor NCAAF news, injury reports, and lineup changes to assess weekly impact on player performance
- Make informed decisions on player availability and expected role (e.g., questionable QBs, shifting depth charts)
- Update team lineups and adjust player projections to reflect real-world context (e.g., blowouts, limited snaps, weather)
📊 Data Validation & Trend Research
- Review player outputs each week (e.g., targets, carries, snap rates) and compare against actual usage trends
- Identify outliers or misleading data and correct projection values when needed
- Deep dive into player situations to ensure projection accuracy
⚙️ Model Operations & QA
- Oversee the projection system’s automated runs each week and confirm successful outputs
- Manually input or QA any unavailable data (e.g., confirmed starters, injury-driven depth changes)
- Communicate with the team to report bugs or suggest improvements to the projection engine
📈 Betting Market Awareness
- Monitor sportsbook prop markets for major discrepancies between model projections and public lines
- Think like a trader — using judgment and context to influence projections where the data alone might fall short
🗒️ Optional but Valuable
- Write weekly notes on key projection changes or modeling decisions
- Track model accuracy across the season and flag areas for optimization
- Respond to internal or client questions about projection values or methodology (light support only)
📅 Weekly Work Schedule
This is not a set-your-own-schedule position — NCAAF runs on a calendar, and we need someone who can be available and engaged when it matters most:
- Saturdays (Full Day Required): This is college football’s busiest day — you’ll be on-call and working throughout the day to monitor breaking news, finalize projections, and oversee model runs
- Fridays (Half Day Typical): Moderate workload — a handful of games usually require lineup and player status checks
- Tuesdays/Wednesdays/Thursdays (Light): Minimal work — only when games are scheduled. You may need to spend 30–60 minutes checking updates or tweaking lineups
- Sundays/Mondays: Generally off unless a rare NCAAF event occurs
Flexibility is important — but availability on game days is non-negotiable.
👤 Who We’re Looking For
You’re analytical, tuned into college football, and meticulous about data quality. You’re the type of person who pauses a depth chart announcement and thinks, “Does this impact slot snap counts for the WR2?”
✅ You might be a great fit if you:
- Know college football well — players, usage patterns, team tendencies, and injury history
- Stay current with weekly player news across top conferences
- Have experience with spreadsheets, projections, and basic analytics (SQL or Python is a plus)
- Can spot when something “doesn’t look right” in the data and investigate why
- Have experience in fantasy, betting, or model-based decision-making
- Are self-driven, dependable, and communicate clearly
